RaceOfficer Timer updates
New versions of RaceOfficer Timer are released regularly including improvements, bug fixes and new features – you can find a complete list of changes in the Release log. In most cases, updates are installed automatically, but it is recommended to verify this well before race day.
In practice, we see that many users continue to run older versions of the app for extended periods of time. This typically occurs when the watch is not synchronized regularly or when automatic updates are turned off. For this reason, it is a good idea to check the installed version from time to time.
Automatic updates
RaceOfficer Timer is normally updated automatically via the Garmin Connect IQ system. If you want to make sure you are in charge of the update procedure and controls when the update is installed, please turn “Auto Update” off in the ConnectIQ app.
For automatic updates to work:
- Your watch is connected to your phone
- The Garmin Connect app is installed and running on your phone
- Your phone has an active internet connection
- Auto Update must be enabled in the ConnectIQ app
If these conditions are met, updates are typically transferred to the watch during normal synchronization.
Manually checking for updates
If you want to check for updates manually:
- Open the Garmin Connect app on your phone
- Go to Device → Select your device
- Select My Device Apps
- Find the RaceOfficer Timer in the list of installed apps
- Open the app page and check whether an update is available
If an update is available, install it and allow the watch to synchronize fully.
Checking the installed version
You can view the currently installed version of RaceOfficer Timer directly in the app on your watch – see the About item in the menu. This is useful when troubleshooting or when contacting the developer for support.
Important note
Always make sure your watch is running the latest version well before heading out on the water. Updates require connectivity and should not be installed right before or during a race. See the Before race day checklist.
